Wireless internet options – Clear compared to Verizon
Wireless internet options have become confusing already, in that so many companies are offering different prices on similar services. Many people are frustrated because they have only just made the switch to 3G wireless service, and now 4G is beginning to take over on a large scale with faster and more reliable service. Because of this confusion and potential frustration, it is important to keep tabs on different wireless providers and services so that you know which ones to go with if you decide to try wireless Internet for the first time or if you are switching providers. It is important to know that at the center of the emergence of 4G service, two different types of service called LTE (offered by Verizon, among others) and WiMax (offered by Clear Wireless) have become the main competitors vying for supremacy in the market. To help you decide between these two, or at least get an idea of what each service offers, here is a brief outline of Clear compared to Verizon with regard to 4G service.
Verizon’s LTE service essentially offers you unlimited 4G access, with a monthly price based upon the size of your device (in terms of storage space for the data you will be using with your wireless service). As is the case with any 4G, download and connection speeds are supposed to be vastly superior to those of 3G service, and the range is constantly expanding. One additional benefit that some people like about Verizon’s LTE, though, is that you automatically receive access to both 3G and 4G, meaning that if you happen to venture into an area where 4G is not yet supported, your device or devices will automatically revert back to 3G, so that you never lose connection.
The principal difference offered by Clear Wireless and its WiMax 4G service is simply that Clear offers a cheaper monthly fee that is all-encompassing, no matter what your storage space is. You also still receive the same quick and reliable wireless Internet service through the 4G network. However, it is also important to note that if you want a 3G/4G combination package like the one offered by Verizon, it costs approximately an extra $15 per month, putting it in a comparable price range to some Verizon packages. Still the original base monthly price is cheaper than most Verizon packages. Ultimately, both companies are offering you high speed, high reliability wireless Internet, with a few differences that allow them to compete with one another. Verizon has a more layered service, with more different packages for different situations, while Clear offers a simpler and potentially cheaper base monthly price.
