iPhone 5 To Load 8 Mega Pixel Camera- is Sony Manufacturing It?

Ever since Apple revealed its plans to bring iPhone 5, there have been a lot of speculations among the gadget freaks, experts and the general users. So far, people discussed about when Apple iPhone 5 is going to hit the market, but there was no such news on the camera of the handset. The latest news that is making rounds is that the device will bring 8 mega pixel camera, which will be manufactured by none other than, Sony.

There was a buzz that Apple may change their present favorite OmniVision that used to manufacture the cameras of the previous iPhones with a Sony manufactured camera. Though there is no official confirmation yet, but the market has a strong feeling that Sony will take over OmniVision to manufacture camera for iPhone 5. Sir Howard Stringer, CEO of Sony, given a statement in the Wall Street Journal interview, which gives out a hint that Sony might be the next favorite of Apple to manufacture camera for iPhone 5.

He was talking about certain camera sensor deal with Apple. He said that the Japan earthquake effects have caused delay in the arrival of camera sensor shipments to Apple. His statement revealed several possibilities and one such possibility is collaboration of Sony with Apple. There is quite a possibility that Sony will be supplying camera modules to Apple. Not a single present device by Apple makes use of a Sony camera and this fact only raises a question what was the Sony CEO talking about. Therefore, the experts are predicting a big collaboration in the future.

If this prediction is true, then people can expect excellent 8 mega pixel Sony camera with Exmor R backlit sensors. 16.4MP unit is another module of Sony cameras, but Apple is probably not going to use it because it can make the unit quite larger, which means iPhone 5 will become thicker than the previous devices in the family.

However, there is matter of concern over the availability of Sony camera modules for iPhone 5. The technology of image sensors of Sony is created in the Sendai factory of Japan. This factory has been affected because of tsunami and it raises the question of the uncertainty.
