HTC Desire HD to Be Updated with Android 2.3 Gingerbread

Recently, a trusted source revealed that the popular mobile phone HTC Desire HD will soon get an update on its operating system. It runs on Android v2.2 Froyo and according to the latest update, the device will run on Android v2.3 Gingerbread. It is confirmed that the French career SFR is planning to roll this update from next month onwards. However, some sources also reveal that the users of the phone from other parts of the world will also receive similar updates around the same time. In fact, HTC has a wide range of handsets that run on Froyo such as HTC Desire Z and Incredible S. The users of these handsets can also expect to get Gingerbread update sometime soon.

Desire HD was released in the UK market in October 2010 and since then it has been quite successful. One of the major reasons for the popularity of this handset is its fabulous display. The device comes with 4.3 inches LCD capacitive touch screen with 480 x 800 pixels resolution and 16 million colour visibility. Other major highlights of the display includes proximity sensor for auto turn off, accelerometer sensor for UI auto rotate, multi touch input and HTC’s very own Sense UI.

It comes loaded with a sound storage capacity. The internal memory of the handset is 1.5 GB and it is capable to expand up to 32 GB with microSD card. 8 GB microSD card is included in the package of the device, which means the users need to buy additional memory card if 8 GB is not enough to meet their storage requirements.

As far as the multimedia features are concerned, HTC Desire HD impresses quite well. The most prominent multimedia feature of the handset is its 8 mega pixel camera. The snapper comes with dual LED flash, auto focus and a resolution of 3264 x 2448 pixels. The camera can also record video at 720p, but there is no secondary camera for video calling. Furthermore, high speed communication is ensured with 3G HSDPA (14.4 mbps) and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n.
