HTC Salsa- Quite a Killer Combination of Android and Facebook
HTC impressed with its revelation of handsets at the Mobile World Congress. The devices look cute and loaded with powerful features like the latest version of Android v2.4 Gingerbread and Facebook. In fact, there are two Facebook phones by HTC during the event – one is ChaCha and the other Salsa. The full touch screen appearance of HTC Salsa definitely looks more attractive.
Salsa includes a big display of 3.4 inches and it is a Twitter capacitive touch screen with the visibility of 256,000 colours. The resolution of the display is 320 x 480 pixels with superior features such as proximity sensor, accelerometer sensor and HTC Sense UI. There is a dedicated Facebook button at the bottom of the display that provides one touch access to all the major functionalities of the social network.
Salsa features quite decent multimedia features. It includes a 5 mega pixel camera that comes with a resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels along with features such as LED flash, face detection and auto focus. The camera can record videos and there is a secondary camera for video calling. Other multimedia highlights include a music player that can play diverse files such as AAC+/ MP3/ WAV/ WMA and a video player that can play MP4/ H.264 files.
Being an Android powered handset, HTC Salsa will provide access to all the applications of Google such as Google Search, Google Maps, Gmail, Google Talk and YouTube. The device is powered by 600 MHz processor and includes Wi Fi and HSDPA connectivity, which assures high speed browsing and data transfer.
According to itbusiness.ca, the HTC Salsa and HTC ChaCha will be available in Europe and Asia during Q2 2011, while AT&T will get them exclusively in the United States later this year, at undisclosed price points.”
