Samsung Will Debut The Much Awaited Galaxy S2 in Mobile world Congress

The year 2010 saw the dominance of one mobile handset the Samsung Galaxy S. With Samsung reportedly selling close to 10million units worldwide as of December 2010, the Galaxy S had literally turned fortunes for Samsung. However, knowing Samsung, they are not those types who will rest on their laurels. In a recent media event, close company sources did indicate a possible Galaxy S2 launch in this year’s MWC. Well, nothing can be confirmed as of now but from what we hear the mobile phone will feature the world’s first Super AMOLED 2 capacitive touch screen display.

Last year we did see a few images of the Galaxy S2 leak out into the internet. At first glance the device looks seriously stunning especially with the beautifully designed golden bezel running all over the sides. However, quite recently a Korean news paper daily confirmed the exact specs of the handset. According to the news paper the handset will feature an over-clocked 1.2GHz processor with dedicated graphics support and will be powered by the latest Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS.

The one aspect the Galaxy S was slightly behind competition was within the camera department. A 5MP camera that had no flash support was never enough for this beast besides; most contemporary handsets do come with 5MP optics as standard. According to the Korean news daily, Samsung will be addressing this issue by introducing a 8MP autofocus camera with dedicated LED flash support. The camera will be able to shoot HD quality videos in 1080p besides the handset will also feature a front facing 1.3 MP camera for 3G video calling. Had enough of hardware blitz? Well, not quite yet. Samsung will also be bringing Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP support on the Galaxy S2 and on a few subsequent Smartphone’s. Bluetooth 3.0 is significantly faster than the current 2.0 version. It’s not just faster; it actually can stream more data at a much more potent rate.

The exact launch date has not yet been decided therefore hardcore Galaxy S fans still need to wait and watch. But from what we know, the Galaxy S2 will be showcased in Barcelona and will probably hit shelves within Q2 of this year.
