BlackBerry Dakota Review – Rumoured Specification
RIM have been keeping the BlackBerry Dakota a big secret since it’s prototype the BlackBerry Magnum was leaked last year. We have managed to get a sneak preview at the rumoured specifications for this attractive new BlackBerry phone and we are sure BlackBerry fans will not be disappointed. The Dakota has a similar design to the very popular BlackBerry Bold 9700 which has become a bit of a BlackBerry style icon, it has a smaller 10.5 mm casing but still sports a full QWERTY keyboard. The rumours state that the Dakota will have a 2.8 inch TFT capacitive touch screen display with 256,000 colours and 640 x 480 pixel resolutions. The user will also benefit from touch sensitive controls, proximity sensor for auto turn off and an optical trackpad.
The Dakota is rumoured to support 2G GSM 850/900/1800/1900 and 3G HSDPA 850/1900/2100 networks with connectivity via 3G HSDPA/HSUPA, WLAN Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and microUSB. There is also GPRS and EDGE technology for speedier connections. The Dakota is rumoured to be running on the brand new BlackBerry 6.1 operating system making your BlackBerry experience much more enjoyable. You can access the internet via a HTML web browser.
If you enjoy taking picturess we have heard RIM have provided the Dakota with a 5 mega-pixel camera, this will have features such as LED flash and geo tagging. You will also be able to enjoy the HD video recorder, recording at 720p as well as an additional camera for making video calls. There will also be a music player supporting MP3, WMA and eAAC+ music formats. Unfortunately for the BlackBerry fans that are still waiting for RIM to provide an FM radio you will be disappointed as the rumours do not mention one at the moment.
Other great rumoured features for the BlackBerry Dakota are GPS with A GPS support, BlackBerry maps and for the first time a digital compass. You can also view those all important documents in Word, Excel, PDF and PowerPoint. There will also be SMS, MMS, instant messaging, email and push email.
