Mobile Phone Replaces Credit Card on 2011

According to a recent news published in The Telegraph, it was reported that the mobile phones are going to replace the usage of debit and credit cards to make payments. This concept has hit the headlines because of the latest phone of Apple that features the Near Field Communications technology. With the help of this technology, the users of the mobile phones can swipe their handset over a reader to make payments on a store counter. Another device that features this technology is Samsung Google Nexus S.

It is now confirmed that Orange will bring NFC technology for the mobile phone users in the United Kingdom. The leading operator has joined hands with Barclaycard to make a mobile phone updated with the payment-equipped capabilities by the summer. Gerry McQuade, the chief development officer of Orange believes that this move is no less than a revolution as it will give a new meaning to the way people pay on the high street markets.

There are not much details available on the hardware of this service. However, Orange has made claims that more than forty thousand stores are prepared to accept this form of payment. Contrary to the belief of many people, the approach is not associated with the mobile phones rather it is the SIM card of the customers that will be used to process payments.

Even the experts of mobile telephony are predicting that by the end of 2011, almost every leading manufacturer of the handsets will implement NFC technology and by the next two years it will be as popular as the usage of Wi Fi in the mobile phones.

Till then, keep your fingers crossed to witness how NFC technology revolutionizes the mobile phone technology. All eyes are now on Orange’s announcement.
