Apple environmentally guilty?
Apple is reported to have refused to allow its infamous iPhones to be included into UK’s green ranking scheme for mobile.
The scheme is a first of its kind and accesses the environment friendliness of the phones. Most other major mobile phone manufacturers have allowed for this to occur. The list rates the phone on a scale of one to ten with regards to their environmental footprint.
One can only speculate that Apple’s cause of withdrawing from such a rating process can only imply negatively about the already struggling brand. The lack of responsiveness from Apple in cooperation with this rating process is seen as a guilt ridden reaction from the iPhone manufacturers.
Could the iPhone be harmful to the environmental? The catch is that we’ll never know.
The iPhone 4 shook the blind confidence that everyone had in the iPhone series. As it is said in some places – ‘even God communicates through the iPhone’, that is the extent of the Apple product’s popularity.
The Apple has, since the launch of the iPhone, been struggling to pick itself up with its reputation that hit plummeting along with the shares of the huge brand. The Apple iPhone 4 was said to have a lot of problems with connectivity and range. The handling of the issue by the Apple has been a show of unprofessionalism since the launch of the product.
An Apple spokeswoman refused to comment on Apple’s turn against the environmental list process but told the media all about the environmental reporting that Apple does online.
With Nokia already being incorporated into the process and the BlackBerry reported to be included next week, the Apple is sitting on the minority side of the fence. This step cannot play well for its already damaged image and one would wonder why the company doesn’t know better.
