The Android 2.1 update is Finally Available for The Orange HTC Hero users

The HTC Hero was launched in July, 2009. The mobile phone featured the Android operating system and was hailed as one of the best mobile phones available in the market running on Android OS platform. However, the Android operating system has evolved and improved. There are now mobiles available that offer the latest version of the Android operating system. The “Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 mini” mobile phone is based on the latest Android operating system and is a serious threat to the HTC Hero, that was unleashed in the market on May, 2010.

To counter the declining popularity of the mobile phone set the latest version of the operating system, Android 2.1 was supposed to be available to the Orange mobile network customers in the January of 2010. However, the upgrade was never made available and Hero started losing its popularity as the premium mobile set to feature the Android OS. Fortunately, the long wait is over and now the Orange HTC Hero users can officially install the Android 2.1 OS on their mobile phones.

There are instances where the users installed hacked version of the Android 2.1 on their mobile devices. The latest version is so critical for the mobile phone set as it promises to increase the speed of the mobile applications considerably and improve the User Interface incredibly. This is the hope that has kept many HTC Hero users cling to their mobile phone set, closing eyes to the lucrative mobiles available on the shelves. However, only the first part of the update is available to the Orange customers. The second part which is deemed the most critical of the updates is not yet made available to the consumers. The mobile enthusiasts sincerely pray that the situation of “too little, too late” doesn’t arise with the Android upgrades of the HTC Hero.
