Sony Ericsson Shakira renamed as XPERIA X8
Sony Ericsson finally revealed some nice images of its latest handset in the XPERIA series. Earlier, this mobile phone was expected to be named as Sony Ericsson Shakira, but it is decided that this handset is going to be introduced in the market as XPERIA X8. The new images of the device are looking nice compared to the blurry shots that were leaked earlier. The official announcement of the phone has not yet been conducted but it is expected to be announced in the third quarter of 2010. The enthusiasts who have already made their mind to purchase the device for hands-on experience, they have to probably till Q4, which is rumored as the release period.
The detailed specifications are not yet available. Only those exciting pictures are circulated as of now and from those images it seems that it will fill the gap between the huge sized XPERIA X10 and the very small XPERIA X10 mini. It is expected to come with Android operating system but the version is not yet known. The touch screen display looks like TFT capacitive with 16 million colours and 240 x 320 pixels resolution. It might include the Timescape UI that is present in the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini.
According to the unofficial specifications revealed in GSMArena, the device will support quad band GSM 850/ 900/ 1800/ 1900 and dual band HSDPA 900/ 2100. It will definitely feature a decent camera, but no details of mega pixels and resolution are available at this moment. The major Google applications and YouTube might also be implemented in XPERIA X8. The official announcement is expected to be made within a few weeks.
