Google android sales going through the roof

Times are changing in the UK mobile phone world. Google’s Android™ operating system appears to be the must have thing in a mobile phone. Sales for handset’s with Android™ dramatically increased last month with around 20% of mobile phones containing the Android™ operating system.

Vodafone have been busy with the long awaited Google Nexus One with them completely selling out of the new smartphone. They have also had other projects with Android™ OS phones with the HTC Legend release at the beginning of April plus they have been marketing many others including the HTC Hero and the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10.

In the last week of March just 3% of mobile phones sold had the Android™ operating system but just 3 weeks later that increased to 12.3%. This gave the market shares a massive boost going to 6.7% from 1.6%. Smartphones now make up a massive 63.9% of the contract mobile phone market and 37.6% of the mobile phone market.
