Google Nexus One versus Apple iPhone

Google Nexus One – Is it one step ahead of Apple iPhone?

There are a lot of curiosity and speculation about the Google Nexus One, after its launch. It is drawing enormous comparisons to the iPhone. But, is the Google phone really that good to be compared with the iPhone, which is regarded as the best phone till date? The launch of the Google phone as got a mixed reaction as some experts are calling it the best phone ever made in the range of feature-rich smart phones while some people are not yet ready to jump into any sort of conclusions.

Whether Google Nexus One would be really able to live up to the expectations and leap the boundaries that the iPhones have created only time will tell. However, there are a lot of common aspects between the first generation iPhone and the Google Nexus One. The iPhone looks thin yet feel strong and solid that goes same with the Google phone as well. In fact, the glass touch screen, the rounded corner and the metal in the Nexus One seems like a deliberate attempt by HTC (the developer of Nexus One) to revive the feel of the original iPhone.

However, the biggest attraction of Nexus One is its display. It comes with huge 3.7 inches AMOLED capacitive touch screen that provides resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. Compared to that, Apple iPhone includes a 3.5 inch TFT capacitive touch screen with 320 x 480 pixels of resolution. Not just the original iPhone, but its updated versions such as iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS also brings in similar display. On top of that, the AMOLED display of the Nexus One is more soothing to the eyes, in comparison to the TFT display of the iPhones. Therefore, the 3.7 inches AMOLED screen of the Google phone is probably its biggest selling point.

The battery life of Nexus One also seems to be better than the iPhones. Even after extensive usage, chatting, Tweeting, surfing, emailing, making calls, doing RSS, etc., the battery runs for the entire day. It is not that iPhone batteries are not powerful, but the Li-Ion 1400 mAh battery of Nexus One really performs well.

The users of the iPhones might find it a bit difficult to get used to the functionalities of the Google phone, which is quite obvious if a user suddenly jumps from MAC to Android. After a few days of handling, Nexus One seems the smoothest handset ever arrived in the market.
