2 new Samsung touchscreen phoned announced. The S5600 and S5230

Samsung have just announced the release of a further two full touchscreen handsets, the Samsung S5600 and Samsung S5230. Both Samsung handsets have massive touchscreens and use the latest TouchWiz uer interface. This UI allows you to drag and drop items on the screen. Due to these handsets targeting the budget conscious the features included are limited.

The S5600 has been rumoured for a few weeks now, finally we have something to write about it. The screen is 2.8 inch’s and uses 16 million colours, the resolution is fairly standard at 240 x 320 pixels. The 3.2 megapixel camera comes complete with LED flash and smile detection.

Connecting the Samsung S5600 to other devices is possible via Bluetooth⪚ and USB, unfortunately there is no WIFI. There is only 80 MB of internal memory with the Samsung S5600, but with the support of MicroSD cards this is irrelevant. We have no price information on the S5600 as yet but would expect there to be some great S5600 deals available within the UK. We are expecting it to become available around May 2009.

Both the Samsung S5600 and S5230 will features a new tool from Samsung, the Gesture Lock feature. This allows the user to unlock the phone and open a menu at the same time simply by drawing a letter from the alphabet on the touchscreen. You can also assign a letter of the alphabet to a particular function within the phone. We just have to wait and see if it actually works now :-)

The Samsung S5230 is slightly better than the S5600 as it features a bigger 3 inch screen and is slightly slimmer at 11.9mm. However in out opinion Samsung have committed the ultimate sin but not including 3G networking on the Samsung S5230. We are expecting this handset around April 2009, we don’t know the cost yet but also expect there to be free S5230 contract deals.
