Sony Ericsson plan to launch a 12.1 megapixel mobile phone

Sony Ericsson are planning a new series of phones named ‘Idou’. This range will be entertainment based and the first handset in the range will have a massive 12.1 MP camera! This handset is due to be launched in the second half of 2009 and will include touch features. It will be possible to download and install new applications on this SE handset as it will be running on the Symbian Foundation operating system.

SE is also launching the SE W995 Walkman phone with an 8 MP camera. The W995 will be geared towards videos (probably using a youtube app) instead of just music.

To date, Sony and Ericsson have sold over 100 million Walkman handsets so we hope this new range will be just as successful, even in the current economic slump.  We will bring you pictures of the Sony Ericsson W995 when we our able to get hold of them.
